Is Dairy Queen Real Ice Cream?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States stipulates that “ice cream” must contain at least 10% butterfat or milkfat.

DQ’s soft serve was once classified as “ice milk,” but the FDA eliminated this classification and instead permitted businesses to group their goods into three new categories: “reduced-fat,” “light,” and “low-fat” ice cream.

The soft serve at Dairy Queen now falls under the new standards’ definition of “reduced-fat” ice cream, whereas the shake mix is classified as “low-fat” ice cream.

It’s crucial to keep in mind, though, that this does not imply that their products are 95% fat-free. These categories only validate the butterfat content, which for DQ’s soft serve is 5%.

Are Dairy Queen Ice Creams Gluten-Free?

Unfortunately, the ice cream at Dairy Queen is not entirely gluten-free.

While the ice cream itself is gluten-free, the toppings, cones, and sweets are all made of gluten-containing ingredients.

Dairy Queen does, however, sell gluten-free treats including the Starkiss Bars, Vanilla Orange Bars, Dilly Bars, and Buster Bar Treats.

Does Dairy Queen Serve Sugar-free Ice Creams?

Dairy Queen’s ice cream menu does not provide any sugar-free options.

The casual restaurant business does, however, sell reduced-sugar ice cream treats including the Fudge Bar, Chocolate Dilly Bar, and Vanilla Orange Bar.
